The spirit of Christmas was in full force in Manchester’s property and construction community last year, as generous donations poured in to support Lifeshare, the city’s longest-running homelessness charity. VINCI Building led the campaign and rallied our supporters and through a collective effort, they raised an incredible £15,000, helping to provide vital support for those who use our services over the Christmas period.
A Collective Effort for a Worthy Cause
The generous contributions came from a group of businesses with a shared commitment to giving back. Among those who supported Lifeshare were:
• VINCI Building
• Mayo Civils
• Willmott Dixon
• Muse
• JCS
• O’Neill & Brennan
• FK Group
Each of these companies played a key role in ensuring that Lifeshare could continue its essential work, particularly during one of the most challenging times of the year for rough sleepers and vulnerable individuals.
Matt Legg, Project Manager at VINCI Building said: “We’ve supported Lifeshare now for a number of years and the impact of this small charity to a growing homeless community is colossal. We have great relationships with the construction industry across Greater Manchester and many came to our call. A special thanks to Gary Mayo and Mayo Civils who found savings across his sites and donated a big chunk to Lifeshare!”
Making a Real Difference
We provide crucial services, including food, warm clothing, and essential support to those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
The funds raised helped us provide:
• Hot meals and emergency provisions for those in need.
• Signposting services to assist individuals in improving their housing situation and health.
• The continuation of Lifeshare’s Christmas Project, which was in question towards the end of last year.
Matthew Johnson, Lifeshare’s Chair of Trustees said:
“Yet again, the support from Manchester’s property community is truly inspiring. £15,000 has and will continue to help us provide critical services to those who need it most. We’re incredibly grateful to each company that contributed, ensuring that we served 2,500 meals during the Christmas week.
Building a Stronger Community Together
Manchester’s property sector is known for shaping the city’s skyline, but this generous act highlights its role in shaping a stronger, more compassionate community. By supporting Lifeshare, these businesses have demonstrated the power of collective action in tackling homelessness and providing hope to those facing hardship.
As Manchester continues to grow and evolve, initiatives like this set a powerful example of corporate responsibility and social impact. Lifeshare and those they support will feel the benefits of this generosity long into 2025.
